Leadership Development
Action Learning
Action learning is a powerful leadership development activity that helps participants to refine their skills in the context of a real-world business problem.
A typical action learning program organizes participants into cross-functional learning teams that are asked to solve an important strategic challenge for their organization. Typical examples include improved customer service, employee retention and process improvement. The outcome is usually a recommendation to senior management, and successful teams have the opportunity to follow their plan through to fruition.
Kwela can help you set up action learning teams using a framework that will deliver the greatest possible learning. Key factors include:
- Relevance and scope of learning topics.
- Executive sponsorship.
- Team direction and alignment.
- Guidance throughout the process.
- Project timelines and commitments.
Action learning gives participants the opportunity to tackle a challenge that is outside their normal scope and in doing so, it allows them to grow in ways that would not typically be possible in their day-to-day jobs.
Action learning is an ideal supplement to a Leadership Development Program, and can run either concurrently or at the conclusion of the program. It also works as a standalone activity and is ideally suited to new to mid-level managers.
